Definitionskos:definition | SEDIMENT LOBES, together with channels, are a major component of turbiditic SUBMARINE FAN systems and deposits. Lobate in plan-view and mounded in cross-section, depositional lobes are expected to be connected to feeder channels. SEDIMENT LOBES are commonly sand-rich, exhibiting coarsening upwards grain size trends (David M. Hodgson et al., 2022; Shanmugam and Moiola, 1988). |
